Standards & Practices
If you’ve been sitting through some boring improv, prepare for a punch in the face. Literally, we might come out in the audience and punch you in the face. We’re capable of anything. And we commit. So it’s gonna be a hard punch. Your brain will bleed.
Group:
Big bang. Four gods of improv explode onto the stage and create a new world. A world without rules, limitations, or laughterlessness. Using our training from Annoyance, UCB, iO, ITC, Second City, Bad Dog and Life, we organically follow the ideas using extreme characters, heart-wrenching emotional commitment, and wild physicality until there’s order to the chaos. And a new world is born: Awesomeland.

Local improv troupes Standards & Practices and Sega Geniuses are smart to split the bill on their Fringe show — because each team gets only 20 minutes onstage, they’re both able to wrap up before creative fatigue sets in. Upstarts Sega Geniuses begin hesitantly but strengthen as a team thanks to the rallying confidence of Fringe veteran Ken Hall. Standards & Practices, in turn, have a cooperative dynamism that ensures they never miss a beat (or a punchline). Consider this production two guffaw-worthy shows for the price of one.
“Another strong team is Standards and Practices (Cameron Algie, Matt Folliott, IsaacKessler and Kevin Whalen). These guys are incredibly inventive, continually clever and are especially adept at creating strong characters and thrusting them into interesting situations. Algie, Folliott, Kessler and Whalen are each individual bundles of jokes, but the strength of Standards and Practices lies in how well the four of them work together to accelerate each of their scenes and showcase one another’s talents. ”
