Cadence Konopaki

As a child Cadence never realized other children didn’t spend their summer vacations in art galleries and their winter nights watching jazz trios and Joan McLeod plays.  As her parents are a visual artist and actress, this was just how one grew up.  This immersion in the arts has lead to a life long passion and involvement with visual and performing arts.

Cadence believes strongly in the importance of the arts in all people’s lives, regardless of one’s demographics including economic status.  This path lead her to E4C’s ArtStart program; Edmonton’s only multi-disciplinary arts program from children from low income families.  The opportunity to see a child’s first time in a theatre or watch as they learn to play the violin, which is on loan to them, is incredibly special and Cadence continues to advocate for the program.

Cadence is also a producer and board member for HighWire Films, one of Edmonton’s local independent film companies which has earned recognition through their AMPIA nominations for ‘Losing Will’, their second feature film.

Last but not least, Cadence has worked as a sound/light technician with Rapid Fire Theatre since 2006.  Besides working on their weekly shows, she has assisted with Improvaganza and Wild Fire as well as many of their shows at the Edmonton Fringe.  Cadence enjoys the opportunity to contribute to a scene through lights and sounds.  There’s nothing better than calling a blackout at the perfect moment!

Cadence also loves the opportunity to work at RFT with her brother (Arlen), husband (Joe) and sister (Ember, now in Vancouver).  We’re taking over!
